A company's corporate, or "about us," section on a public Web site has become so ubiquitous; almost every site you see has one and contains much the same information. We won't bore with you with our history, but will provide you with some high-level details:
Who Are We? We are a small group of Mac and Linux enthusiasts, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, who like the simplicity and flexibility of the MacOS and the raw power of Linux. If you look at the Macintosh environment, you will see a gradual decrease in the amount of affordable, high quality software available over the last several years. Linux, on the other hand, suffers from a lack of refined, ready-to-use desktop applications. And so, LifeGuru is our modest attempt to produce such software. What Is Our Expertise? We have a combined 45 years of combined experience among us. What does that really mean? That is for you to decide :-) Our founder, for example, has worked as an architect at a number of Fortune 500 companies and has written several books for O'Reilly and Associates, John Wiley and Sons and Wrox Press. In summary though, we have strong expertise in all aspects of the software development cycle and have successfully delivered desktop and enterprise-level applications and services on a number of platforms, including MacOS 9, OSX, Linux, various flavors of Unix, such as Solaris and HP-UX and even Microsoft Windows. We would love to work with you to design, implement and manage your projects ... at a very affordable price! What Is Our Take Open-Source? We love the open-source movement! You might find it a bit odd that an entity such a LifeGuru, which sells commercial offerings, favors such a movement. The reality is that there are certain projects that thrive in an open-source environment, while others are more suited for the proprietary, closed-source, commercial channel. Our staff has released a number of applications and libraries under various open-source licenses in the past and will continue to do so. We have several open-source projects in our extended pipeline that we plan to release under the "dual-license" model, much like MySQL and Berkeley DB. In summary, our affinity for the open-source movement does not preclude us from simultaneously developing closed-source applications as well. And we can even help you customize or improve existing open-source applications to suit your requirements.
